 'Fly Strike'?

In the hot weather you must make sure your bunny is dry and clean making sure that you clean their hutch everyday. This will stop unpleasant smell's (for both you and your Bunnie) and keep the flys away.  Dirty smelly hutches are a health hazzard to your rabbit!

Flies can be very dangerous for rabbits causing irritation and very unpleasant for the rabbit. In very saver cases it can cause death !

Did you know?

Within a 24 hour period a healthy rabbit can enter a 'terminal state of shock' due to maggot infestation caused by fly strike

Housing

Rabbits may be kept in or outside.

I like to keep my rabbits outside. Your home will be the deciding factor, for example size of your garden and space in general but its up to you where you keep yours.

If you keep a rabbit outside there are a few things you will  need

1)   A large hutch the bigger the better for your bunny to live in - off the ground to avoid damp  and drafts

2)   A large enclosed run so your rabbit can have daily exercise they like to run around and be free

3)  Make sure your rabbit is safe from other animals {foxes and cats never leave them unattended in a run. Never be tempted to leave them in the run while you go out - a sly fox may be waiting!

4) Make sure your bunny has shelter from the wind and the rain so thay dont get cold

5)  In the summer the weather can be  unpredictable , either too hot, too cold or both! Your rabbit will need some form of shade so they dont get hot and ill in the sun or chilled by the damp rain
